We are thrilled to announce that Petersfield Church of England Aided Primary School has again been awarded the Gold School Sports Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. This is the second year running the school has been awarded Gold, and the culmination of a two wonderful years of sporting opportunities for pupils, which are detailed in the blog below.
The School Games Assessors commented: "A massive congratulations on gaining the School Games Mark Gold Award for the first time. This is deserved recognition for all the hard work and energy you and your colleagues have put into increasing the provision and uptake of School Games opportunities this year.
It has been great to see your children taking part in so many events and competitions this year and really pleasing to see that you have been able to identify those young people that would benefit the most from the different opportunities and encouraging and supporting them to take part in events."

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements include introducing more new sports, participation in RUN ORWELL, being runners up of the local football league and 3rd in the dynamos cricket tournament and increasing pupil involvement in a range of sporting competitions.
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
Below are documents which review of the use and impact of the Sports Premium Funding. The impact of this funding is monitored throughout the year. An annual statement of spend and intended spend is written and from April 2018, we have published 'Evidencing the impact of the Primary PE and Sports Premium'.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been recognised. We look forward to applying once again in 2025 when we will be aiming to maintain our Gold Award as we strive to continue to offer rich sporting opportunities for our pupils in the next academic year.
