Hazel
Welcome to Hazel Class. We are a Year 3 class and we have 18 pupils. Our teacher is Miss Swain and our teaching assistants are Miss Squires and Mrs Clark.
History:
We will explore what life was like in the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. We will learn about homes, food, tools, and how technology developed over time. By examining evidence and comparing the three periods, we will decide which one we would have preferred to live in and explain why.
Geography:
We will investigate volcanoes and the reasons why people choose to live near them. We will learn how volcanoes are formed, where they are found in the world, and what happens when they erupt. We will explore the benefits and risks of living close to a volcano, use maps to locate famous examples, and study real-life case studies before deciding whether they would choose to live near a volcano.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. We work with Commando Joe on a Thursday. Children should wear their PE kit on these days.
In Hazel Class we are particularly focusing on:
All marking is responded to
Sensible faces (as part of pupil self-assessment)
Lay out each page correctly
Perfecting your punctuation
Correct letter formation and joined handwriting
Spellings copied correctly
Having a can-do attitude
No doodling or scribbling
No rubbing out
DUM TUMS (Date, underline, miss a line, title, underline, miss a line, success criteria)
We all have been involved in a dialogue about the high expectations we have of all pupils. Effective feedback involves a dialogue to identify what has been done well and the next steps to learning. Pupils are regularly given verbal feedback about their work and areas to work on. Where appropriate, we use pink highlighting to identify where we are 'Tickled Pink' that the Success Criteria (expectations set out at the start of the lesson) have been achieved. Green highlighting identifies a next step (Green for Growth). Children are also encouraged to self-edit and correct or improve something using their purple polish pen. For more information, please do ask your child, read our policy on the school website or speak to us.
